What’s not to love about going to university? Whilst studying for a degree, you get your first taste of independence – flying the nest and not being told what to do by your parents. There’s also the opportunity to make loads of new friends, both at your student accommodation and on your course, not forgetting student discounts that help you to be savvier with your maintenance loan!

There’ll be occasions when you’ll have your head buried inside a textbook and others where you’ll need to stay late at the library, or pull an all-nighter, to get your assignments done before the deadline. And let’s not forget the social side of student living too – things like joining sports clubs or teams, nights out in town, pub quizzes with your housemates. What we want to know is when you find the time to look after your physical and mental well-being?

Our guess is, not often enough and that’s why we thought we’d share a few simple ways to practice self-care whilst staying at your uni digs…

Have a Well-deserved Pamper

Nothing says self-care quite like a relaxing bubble bath, does it? You’re probably missing home purely for the fact that there’s no bathtub at your student halls – but you’ll be pleased to know that Caro Lettings provide some of the best student accommodation Liverpool has to offer. Every room comes with an en-suite bathroom including a shower, washbasin and toilet. So, although you can’t have a soak in the bath, you can still apply face masks, hair masks and your favourite moisturiser!

Get Organised

Even if you’re the least organised person in your halls of residence, setting aside a little time to tidy up your room or to rearrange the cupboards in the shared kitchen is always a good idea – and sure to make you feel better. You could even write a shopping list before you head out to the supermarket to stop yourself from splurging on any unnecessary items or make a to-do list for your studies.

Listen to Your Favourite Playlist

Whether you’re sitting in your room, cooking lunch or exercising, you’d be surprised how much listening to music can boost your mood! Plus, as a bonus, Spotify offer student discount – so just pop your earphones in, choose/make a playlist, and enjoy yourself!

Stay Hydrated

Contrary to popular belief, self-care is not just about lighting candles, taking a hot shower or doing some yoga. Oh no. Keeping hydrated is just as important, if not more so. After all, drinking water can help with brain function, digestion, transportation of nutrients, and so much more. If you don’t like water, you could always drink cordial. Or, if you prefer, add a couple of bottles of flavoured or sparkling water to your shopping list.

Get Plenty of Sleep

Don’t get us wrong, being a student is all about partying into the early hours. But, sometimes, you just can’t beat an early night. It’s the perfect opportunity to catch up on some much-needed zzz’s and to wake up feeling refreshed and well-rested. Alternatively, at weekends or on days where you don’t have early lectures, you could treat yourself to a nice lie-in? Simply switch off your alarm and wake up naturally.
